Pr0sthet1cs v 1.0.1 is a technical system which retrieves and stores real-time data from flickr. The use of such database is explained by the fact that databases consist of the new organization model for the collection and storage of information in today’s society.

The system retrieves flickr users' images in real-time, which are projected in the installation space. The system is formed which (a) gathers and sends information to the flickr database, and (b) turns this information into "visuals". A video-camera is also used (c) to track the movement of the visitor in the space.

Within the projection / installation space there are two states of interaction: movement and no movement. In the state of no movement, the images are downloaded and projected, but not stored in the database (or else the Prosthetics flickr account). With the movement of the user(s) in the space, the whole dynamic of the system changes: the amount of movement affects the flow of the projection of the images, and this movement is also visualized with a mask on top of these images. This mask is formed by the letters and numbers of the code that constructs the system itself. This code is not shown static; it is rather visualized in movement. Finally, everytime an image is uploaded to the database, the sound of a camera Flash is played and the system downloads the next image.

The interaction system of the installation is formed by a transmitter (the computer) and a receiver (the user).

With the use of these new technologies, information is not only content; Information is transformation and mutates the signal in the system. In our case, information is the images gathered from the database and its transformation is the technology that Prosthetics uses. Therefore, if with technology anything can be reduced to code and algorithms, the technology of the system can be simplified to its code itself: this is the reason that the code that constructs the system is shown. It transforms and mutates the signal (that is the images gathered from flickr) and these mutated images are the ones which are eventually uploaded to the prosthetics flickr account.
